Considering Compass
I have an offer with Envoy but I'm considering Compass for western bases. I need some input though.
What I basically understand:
1) Internet forums are internet forums.(I've been reading Compass and Envoy's for a while now)
2) No one has a crystal ball for the airline industry.
3) The next few years may be more unpredictable than usual
What I would like your thoughts on:
1) If Compass does continue to lose flying and/or aircraft how much can be lost and the company stay a float?
2) How will lost flying affect the FO reserve problem. (the guys on the three AA wholly owned are flying a lot on reserve and getting off reserve pretty quick. 4-6 months for the longest base/airframe 1 month for the shortest.)
3) How stable is the flying in PHX? That is where I would like to be based (I'll be living in SLC) and supposedly Envoy is going to reopen PHX or LAX next year. It sounds like the AA flying and the aircraft for that are going to come from Compass. BUT if they don't and Compass stays strong in PHX I'd be smart to sign up with Compass. At least they have an actual base instead of a hopeful one. IF, IF, IF... I know.
4) If Compass matches the $50 FO pay will the bonus go away.
5) I would like to eventually be with Delta. If they are metering their Compass hires the way AA meters their Envoy hires that might be a negative. (Envoy's is a known quantity. Right now flow is 6-8 years, but nothing says you can't get 'hired around the flow'.
All speculative, I know. Lay it on me anyway.
Thanks
