I hope you're right. I know many guys would love to see LAX as a base. Logic isn't on you're side. First gate agents aren't a good source for anything other than "Where's my plane?".
You could ask the Taxi/bus drivers out front and get better intel. The room they pointed out to you was Swissport storage.
