Is it really working for free? A reserve is getting paid 75 hours a month to fill in gaps that happen in scheduling. Sometimes you get paid to sit at home. By picking up a trade you don't help the schedulers fill any gaps, you're just flying a trip that already had a pilot fly it. So why would they need to pay you more if the contract doesn't even mention it. It doesn't help the company at all and ALPA didn't add it to our contract language. Legally I don't see why they have to.
Um, because that’s how it works literally everywhere else. Should reserves be stuck only making guarantee?
