No on WANTS to get a line check on a DP. It is ASSIGNED. I have a buddy that had one assigned on a DP for Oct a month in advance (no flying on the SO seat, line checks are the norm for currency.) You can't drop or trade it.
OK, that should probably be placed in the "That Ain't Right" category unless there were some very unusual circumstances.
So, tell me how a non-reserve pilot(was he?) gets ASSIGNED a DP a month out when the contract says:

And unless I've lost touch with reality (totally possible),
normally, reserve assignments only happen inside 48 hours. Guess you just put it down to not the best of luck when you get a DP and a no-notice check together.
Hopefully all those reserves being assigned DPs are sending follow-up emails to the union (SIG) about how they are right and the pairing really is as bad as it appears.
