Depending on what fleet you are on, NYC has some unique issues. On the 73, we cover all three airports (LGA, JFK, EWR). It's hard to find a crash pad thats convenient to all three airports. LGA to JFK isn't bad, but LGA/JFK to EWR is a huge level of suck. It's close to three hours on the airporter bus, or a $100+ cab/Uber ride.
The first flight from DFW won't get you to the NYC area before 11:00, and the last flight home leaves LGA at 20:00 (EWR is 18:10). There is no redeye option either way.

On the plus side DFW-LGA is all airbus, so there are two jump seats.

We have pretty much decided moving somewhere thats an easier commute, or drivable is the best option.
Can you not hold Dfw? I don’t get the hub to hub commute thing. I’d rather sit FO than commute to CA any day of the week.
