PSM pilots are highly likely to start and end at PSM, as opposed to air lining to a plane. PSM captains typically work harder on average. You are far more likely to do an overnight in PSM, but you should always be prepared to spend 8 days on the road.
We have a handful of part time captains who only do one 8 day work cycle every 28 days; however, you would likely be expected to be a full time captain for at least a year before going part time. That can be worked at an individual level with with the CP or DO.
We have a few retired/resigned major airline folks here. I think depending on whether or not you commute to your airline job, you could be spending as much or more time away from home at PS.
