That's an important distinction. Norwegian is beginning to hurt financially and is looking for airlines to feed their international operation. They recently made a deal with easyJet to help supply feed from Europe, but don't have any access deep into the United States domestic market.

I'm not too familiar with Norwegian's destinations from JFK and FLL, but they mostly appear to be places like London or Barcelona, mostly Western Europe. Those markets are within reach of the 321lr, should Jetblue decide to pull the trigger on transatlantic service.

As a casual industry observer, it seems unusual to have an airline CEO signal publicly a desire for a code share like this. It appears to me that Norwegian needs this deal more than Jetblue.

With all that said, I'm not sure Jetblue has ever seen a codeshare it didn't like. Scope is section one of the contract for a reason.
