I am not available to be released from my current job until May 2018, 7 months from now. Should I put that date in my application or put the standard 2-4 weeks notice and pass on an interview until then, should I actually get called? Put your actual date. When you interview with Delta, for example, they will have your application printed out and you will sign it saying that it is a) correct, and b) your availability date is true.
If you put that you're available in 3 weeks and they offer you a class date in 4 weeks, but you're really not available for 5 months, you're going to get your hiring offer pulled and you're out of luck.
Just put your true date.
