EWR and DCA flying is actually quite good. The west coast not so much.

The main reason is no new hires want it, or should not want it, is they will be junior for a very long time. Also, the seat lock is very restrictive. The top of the list is much more senior than the buss or guppy. Meaning reserve forever. Unless you live in base, and I'm guessing most NH's won't, commuting to reserve is almost unworkable from a family standpoint.
