That’s ENTIRELY possible, and quite likely......but I specifically heard “the deal is in place and they’re waiting for the UAL FAs to sign off on it”. If I had a dime for every time I have heard this rumor over the years.....I would be able to afford the toll booth in Blazing Saddles.
