So heard a new thing today, didn't know a Naval Aviator still had the option to "Volterm." Had a guy from our squadron volterm and is trying to go to the regionals, just out of curiosity does he get to keep his hours/wings and wouldn't they be questioning his volterm?
He keeps his wings, looses flight status and has to go to a PCOR board for retention/redesignation. If he is not redesignated then he gets out with his AD commitment truncated to time served (still has the remainder of His IRR commitment if hes been in less than 8 years) and he qualifies for R-ATP mins.
Regionals will ask, but as long as he has R-ATP mins they won’t care.
