At home or on duty, doesn't matter. Don't answer your phone. Unless you are on reserve you are only obligated to return their phone call within a certain period of time. Other than that you are never obligated to answer your phone, even on reserve, once you are given a flight assignment you are not required to answer your phone. They can threaten you all they want and tell you whatever they want. Read the contract and fly it.
It is typically better for the jr pilots to take the pay and not the day in lieu because they will jr man you on your day in lieu next month and you will never make up the lost time off. Take the pay and if you are not notified make sure you call and or email crew scheduling and ask for you qualifying event notification.
