Some points of interest.
*Don't discount getting the 175. the extra $5k for the CRJ and 145 draw some people away. Envoy wants an all 175 fleet and continues to grow that fleet.
*Upgrade bids to the left seat with base of choice are awarded from the top of the seniority list. When that list runs dry, displacement to the left seat and assigned base starts at the bottom of seniority list. Depending on your qualifying time, you may be displaced before really enjoying any time on whatever aircraft you choose.
*CRJ training is a much small group of pilots so you get to know each other very well.
*You may not get a choice (either because CRJ is not offered on your hire date, or more senior pilots take it).
*145 training group is much larger giving you more variety of pilots to choose from to buddy up with doe studying, sim partners...
*CURRENTLY, 145 fleet is largest and at all bases. I assume that would give you much more mobility to jump to another base if it goes junior or otherwise gives you preferred seniority at that base.
*Play the numbers game during the bid. If when your bid number is up 75% of 175 are gone, 25% of CRJs are gone, and 50% of 145 are gone, biding CRJ gives you highest seniority in class. Or play it by the quantities. 2 remaining 175, 3 remaining CRJ, and 15 remaining 145, then 145 puts more pilots under you. I guess base matters too.
*From what I know, CRJ 700 has the best thrust to weight ratio of all regional jets.
*Some have told me they love only one FA b/c less drama. I love knowing there are two back there to support each other.
Hope that gives you something meaningful to think about
Thanks. This is the kind of stuff I was looking for.
No doubt if a 175 is available, I'll take it. I'm just trying to make the other decision before I have to, in case I have to. I'm going to be a freakin' airline pilot so I'm going to be happy no matter what. I'm just trying to weigh the pros and cons so I can make the best decision for me and my family.
Which one only has one FA?
