I guess I see your point...Although with a 10yr capt rate of $57/hour, I'm coming up with just under $69,000 yr...crediting 100/mo (ie. more like 14 off/mo). I dunno, but 69k/yr is not much at all in SoCal... if you don't already own, good luck buying any property!
I have a buddy who's a surfer...but he's OAK-based flying for SWA...makes more than double and has more days off.
Don't get me wrong, I know getting into SWA is no walk in the park, but it's still surprising to see how many regional CA get comfortable in one spot and stop progressing in their career. In some cases, they have a particular family/location situation that makes it worthwhile to stay, but in many other cases it's just plain laziness.
