I use to think the same way but recently learned something about the fence concept. What if we have fences and as soon as the SLI was done the company makes a equipment / base change? - LAX is now a FiFi base or ANC is now a FiFi base? All Boeings move out, all FiFi's move in and Alaska Natives now have to move or commute with their equipment because they are fence out from flying FiFi for years. It would seem that fences can be dangerous. Food for thought.
