Great point on the TAFB equation. This is how pilots get soaked in these deals in the first place. Conversations like this focusing on pay rate windfalls ignore the glaring issues in this CBA that need to get fixed to reverse the trend of the the W2/TAFB equation.
While our rates sucked, it has been efficient and soft money (preemo, incentive, and the givaaway stuff like QIP) is readily available if not baked into the cake all while working less days. High QOL for the same dollars.
I wish the 2louds would get that so the conversation could move forward to fix the whole thing rather than who got what windfall. There were no windfalls except for those who get the benefit of "synergies" and that ain't us. We need to focus on carving out a bigger slice of the pie for us that does not include working more to make the same W2 with a higher pay rate.
