Yes, aircraft utilization can vary wildly between airlines, equipment type, and geographic area.

SWA utilizes the heck out of their airplanes, so their pilots get all their bock in a few short days and then get a lot of days off. If you have a lot of crews on 30 hour overnights or long airport sits, somebody ELSE has to come in to actually work flights that day...
