Or maybe not.
DAL and UAL RJ scope limits are virtually identical, no? I'm not sure how adding more RJs will attract high-yield passengers.
The revenue problem is a
management problem the result of a muddled merger and not maintaining operational reliability combined with loss of focus on customer service. A noticeable percentage of business travelers on DAL
used to fly UAL or CAL. And both UAL and CAL used to have revenue in the upper tier of the industry.
UAL can reclaim those lost customers with lots of hard work, and our service is improving, but we are paying the price of several Jeff'd up years. It's up to management to lead with a serious competitive response.
In any event, there is nothing stopping UAL from buying aircraft of any size flown by mainline. DAL bought 717s and C-Series to plug the "hole" the fleet. What is UAL waiting for? Scope relief?
Sincerely,
A Nut Job that's not interested in scope relief
