There are a lot of ways to slice and dice those numbers. The numbers generally are a bunch of manure.
What numbers do you want to include and exclude from the computations? National Park Ranger salaries? Military base costs?
I notice that those numbers have become a red state/blue state argument by the left, especially the ones that include all federal spending (military bases, national park land, regional offices). The numbers 'look' like CA's a donor state now that they've booted almost every military base - funny how that works.
