When they aren’t properly staffed and don’t have any reserves available, crew support starts calling people on their days off to beg them to take the trips. If they are having trouble finding a volunteer, the flight will be delayed until they do. Which affects the D:0 A:14 times.
Also, when running as thin as they are now, they don’t have reserves available to takeover when a crew will obviously be delayed all day. For example, a crew leaving an outstation has a maintenance problem. It takes 3 hours to resolve to problem. With their 6 leg day of quick turns, they don’t have any time to catch back up. When we have enough reserves, crew support could pull their next round trip, give it to reserves, and allow them to get back on schedule.
