AAG placed the 175s that Compass operates under the American Eagle brand there back when we were in a fierce contract battle a couple of years ago. They were initially heading here as part of the concessionary deal. When we turned AAG down, sending the first batch of 175s (20) to Compass was a punishment/big middle finger to Envoy for voting no to a concessionary contract. From there, AAG began to farm out the rest of our flying and other airplanes. To make a long story short, the game obviously has taken a huge shift in terms of how we fit into AAGs regional plan. AAG would rather have those Compass planes, which they paid for, flying at a WO carrier. The current contract on those planes goes through January 2020. It's highly likely that at the completion of that contract that AAG will transfer those planes to the WO where they originally intended them to go to, Envoy. Now...whether AAG decides to keep those planes in LAX operated by Envoy or have them operate in other parts of the country is anyone's guess. They could dump those planes into the network in DFW, ORD, or somewhere else and have Skywest pick up the slack in LAX. Who knows how it will work out, but I definitely wouldn't laugh at the notion of Envoy re-opening LAX.
Actually, you must be new because to think that AAG cares about feelings and where they want their planes flying is ridiculous. Just because they were supposed to originally come to us, doesn’t mean they are rightfully ours. AAG will place any of their aircraft with the most cost effective/profitable option. Maybe that’s us, maybe it’s not. Last I checked, the pilots at Envoy don’t sit in on fleet planning meetings, so how would you know anyways. All I’m saying is we are more likely to open probably 5other bases before we go opening LA.
