Imagine having flown a single seat fighter for 20+ years, then making your first PA. I think I’ve done it all...PA on intercom, started one on center freq, made one on the service inter phone, called down to ops on guard, then called it again because they didn’t answer...it goes on from there. I’m on month three and just now feel like I’m getting the hang of those things. I still practice it all in my head before keying the mic. It’s amazing how this giant bubble of all knowing SA I used to have instantly shrunk down to soda straw vision with the addition of another pilot, an auto-pilot, and a cabin full of helpless passengers. Talking to most of my classmates, they’ve all done the same...I just feel like the hole I’m climbing out of was just a bit deeper than the regional captains in my class.
