I interviewed last week, and have not heard any thing from the company, but yesterday I got a call from the backround check people telling me they had a question regarding a place I worked at. Do they run backrounds on everyone that interviews? I thought you knew if you were hired the Monday after you interviewed?
They're probably just swamped with applicants right now. Nah just kidding. I'm sure you got hired, so congrats. Yes, they do outsource the background checks which are surprisingly thorough. I think it must be an NWA thing. I had the same thing happen to me earlier this summer where I received a call from the background people before I received the official letter/e-mail. I don't recall ever receiving a congrats phone call. Don't sweat it.
