Don't know anything about flying hub & spoke out of ATL, but...

I speak with the station ops guys whenever I go through there. The number of mainline flights in-out on a daily basis has exploded over the past couple of years (looks like 16 daily right now), meaning we don't have mainline gate space at times. There's an expansion project to extend the T-concourse north and add two more gates (will tear down the fire station, parking lot, and other building there to do it). Timeframe for completion is 2022. Station guys lamented we don't have an ATL-LAX flight and are hoping we decide to add that service as ATL has a booming film business.
