Also, you do not need ATPS to get to the regionals anymore, American Eagle, terrible example, is hiring 600/100. You could easily get on at Trans States or Mesa with bare minimum commercial multi instrument, and half a brain, without ever stepping into a big flying school.
But your wouldn't want to work at TSA or Mesa. I worked for Mesa and HATED IT.
