It seems to me the question at hand is this, can one bypass the standard system and list of qualifications needed to get hired as a pilot for UAL?

The answer really is no. That is unless the person is a son or daughter of someone on the inside with a whole lot of influence.

Do the homework and pass the test.

***update***

This will clear the question up a bit.

From the posted website:
“Career Path Programs offer an alternative path to traditional hiring for qualified pilots at United Express carriers CommutAir, ExpressJet and Air Wisconsin

In 2018, 35 percent of United’s new hires will be from Career Path Programs, compared to 30 percent in 2017

Each carrier has specific program requirements. United closely monitors training, dependability and discipline records of all participants throughout their involvement in the program.

Please visit each partner’s website for complete program details and how to apply.”

The answer for the OP is this,
You are looking at a program for EXPRESS carriers and not UAL itself.

Currently, and probably well into the future, UAL has no need to hire pilots with little or no credentials, including a higher education degree. But there are programs to help one get to an EXPRESS carrier.
