1. Realize that a pilot uniform is not an additional security measure and the wearing, or lack of wearing, one should have no bearing on security procedures, whatever those procedures may be.
2. Realize pilots and crew have gone through the same, if not more so, stringent background checks than TSA agents and do not pose a threat to the flight regardless of what they bring on board (liquids, gels, etc).
3. If an airline crew ID is not sufficient to positively ID someone as a member of the crew, then change the crew ID system. Personally I feel the ID looks "less advanced" security wise than many states drivers licenses, if thats the problem, address it.
I would like to add:
Maybe the airline unions should lobby congress to get this fixed. They seem to have alot of energy to protest things. Maybe a protest would bring some attention to it.
