Their commanders have to certify the Mil Leave... so they are "on duty" and not really much UAL management can say about it... i'm sure lots of alert missions and command center positions that need manning even over the holidays.
Yea that’s all BS, I fly with tons of guys that just call their “commander” when they want some time off.
