To your point, I can't stand lanyards and never used one until the union sent me the orange one and told me to wear and why. So I do. I don't really think it's the writing on it that's important but the color - supposedly they want any pilot group in negotiations to wear orange (I think I heard that somewhere). Plus, as mentioned before, since 2017 is over, it shows that our contract is overdue - not that we're defeated. I'm not really sure how you come to that conclusion as it's a negotiation...since it didn't happen in 2017 like the lanyard states that means it's not gonna happen ever? Defeat, to me, is not wearing the lanyard at all. You're just one more person who isn't "showing" solidarity (despite how much you say you're down for the cause). Plus, I'd rather have the union spend my dues on getting me a new contract instead of another 1200 or so lanyards.
Just difference of opinion. Either way, we're both in the same boat and on the same team.
