For real news.... I have observed the following about several successful pilot candidates that I have mentored in the last 2 years. It can take 6-18 months from when you apply to get an interview. This is for 10,000+ hrs regional captains, 4yr degree, internal recommendations, active lobbying with BCPs, meet and greets and job fairs. 2-3 months from job offer to class date. The interview is user friendly and relaxed. They give you a CJO the day of the interview if you pass. Last I heard AS/VX combined will hire 400 this year. New F/Os getting off reserve in less than a year. Then will fly lots of weekends, holidays and red eyes for several years. Junior system capt is in SEA less than 5 years. ( they will likely be on reserve for several years). Most the F/Os I fly with are very happy and enjoy the job. But like me are disappointed with the management's behavior over the last year. And of course the #5 pay disparity with 1-4. There will be some negative issues over the next year or more with the merger. But the place doesn't suck. I have worked for many places to do. Remember it's just a job.
