I think our Union Reps care very much. I think they are doing their best with the cards they have. I believe in the MEC’s strategy. They know Regional Feed impacts mainline. Raising our pay is good for Mainline, and increases mainline flying in house. They see the bigger picture. They know if they flow, and we new folks are not armed with appropriate tools to succeed it will effect them at Mainline. We need to make sure we are volunteering and involved and learning from these guys before they flow. It is IMPERATIVE.
Union can do nothing at this point if the company refuses to negotiate. It’s not the MEC’s, Reps, Committee leaderships fault. Blame & pressure the company, and be HONEST with New hires, and POTENTIAL new hires who are here or coming here. It will take some time for NH to slow down. I personally hope it does not slow down. If NH’s see a lot of value in our current system, rates, work rules, Mgmt tactics, then so be it. When Pay Rates, reserve and soft pay, and contract rules does eventually increase, it will put us in an even greater position as a company for even greater success and greater growth which the company wants- within scope. Hopefully (wishful thinking) Flow will increase. We all know our Mgmt is reactionary due to AAG’s leadership position and vision. If the rumors of Envoy merging with PDT is true, I will be happy, synergies are needed in this regional environment (my opinion), I will gladly welcome PDT, I think most in both pilot group would also.
All we can do at this point to help our Union leadership is to get involved now & learn the ropes and when the company comes back to the table (and they will sooner rather than later), we will be ready, and Eagle Strong! A lot of complainers here on APC, yet so few willing to get involved. I trust the leadership is fighting hard with the cards they have to play with. Let’s see what unfolds.
