As I understand it, a true scab is someone who has crossed a picket line or flown work that their pilot brothers would not fly due to ...let's call it negotiations... with the company.
CASS is the Cockpit Access...something something database which verifies a pilot's credentials so that he or she may ride in the cockpit or cabin jumpseat on another airline.
Not exact definitions but close enough.
