It's true, the individuals in leadership positions are the most important part of the equation for DAY TO DAY running of the union.
But when the SHTF, you really need the whole organization at that point and I'm here to say, ALPA won't be there in 5 years when you guys really need them.
But again, discussion going in circles. I'm done. Good luck.
You are entitled to your opinion; perhaps this format is more appropriate.
1. True or false: After we received a letter from the Teamsters last week they attempted to claim it was from our Exco. False it was from Teamsters
2. True or false: Dan Wells had his own agenda which delayed our contract. True
3. True or false: After the debacle with DW Teamsters took action to resolve the issue. False Teamsters did nothing, just ask the Omni pilots what DW is doing to them.
4. True or false: Teamsters is the only organization that can represent us. False
5. True or false: A significant number of pilots want to replace Teamsters with ALPA. True, this is why a vote is coming.
6. How many pilots does Teamsters represent? I don’t know the answer to this but I would surmise it is somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000.
7 How many pilots does ALPA represent? Over 59,000
8. True or false: ALPA can actively solicit from a carrier already represented by a union. False, it is illegal. Teamsters knows this, our Exco knows this and so does ALPA
9. True or false: The language in our new contract does a good job protecting us. False, it is full of holes which requires mediation to resolve. The reason the contract was written this way is because it is revenue generating for the Teamsters
10. True or false: The Kalitta Exco has a fiduciary responsibility to the Teamsters. True, which is why we received another letter yesterday.
So you believe my commentary was emotional, personal and paranoid, really I suggest you look in the mirror before you make that statement. You have an objective and so do I. Just because you believe that ALPA would not do a good job representing us does not make it true. My personal experience is contrary to your opinion, but you are entitled to your opinion. I don’t want a union that will dictate terms to our negotiating committee, I want our negotiating committee free to negotiate the way they see fit.
I appreciate your feedback, we all can learn from different perspectives.
