I bailed off AD, guard bummed with no health insurance for my wife and two kids for 8 months until I got an airline to call. While the retirement check might not be all someone needs and tricare might be inconvenient, stepping out the door with a military retirement is a far cry from that. Airlines are trying to fill classes and it's Fedex's prerogative to wait until they can get a definitive answer from someone rather than build a pool. It sure as hell isn't their job to sprinkle the way in rose petals between retirement and Indoc for everyone transitioning from the military. Maybe they'll change their policy if it appears to result in missing out on good candidates, but until then it's their sandbox. Misrepresenting one's availability is a sure fire way to close the door on FedEx for good.

I love hearing stories about the guys who were still on terminal leave when they started Indoc. Good for them. Not everyone is that lucky and expecting it is pretty ridiculous out here in the real world, IMO.


Yes, it’s FedEx’s prerogative. Doesn’t mean I have to agree with it. Fedex is passing up good people for not building a pool. IMO
