Having said that, are there any good study guides for the CRJ's that anyone would recommend? The immediate goal is not to be able to pass my type rating, but to become familiar enough with the systems so as to make the training a tad bit simpler.
There's a few on Amazon I've come accross by author Aaron Boone. Are these any good?

Wait until class. Don't put the cart before the horse.
Read the dozens of posts about this. You will hurt yourself by getting too far ahead.
Once you get to Dayton, the Boone book is pretty good.
