Awesome! This guy gets it. I agree with your previous posts.
We all know 1,000 PIC time will come. It helps to be more competitive in other ways. 1,000 PIC is not even listed as a requirement by some majors anymore. Other resume building points (degrees, Volunteer, community involvements) are heavy weights now. Some FOs come with just an Associates degree. Some on property want to finish their BA/BS degree, be more competitive for majors beyond just 1,000 PIC. Being a senior FO on Reserve will really help achieve those goals, vs a Forced Upgrade into Junior CA position at a base you don’t want to commute into for an indefinite period of time.
Improved QOL, RSV rules, Base of choice, avoiding commutes. It all helps that new FO taking his/her time learning, growing, taking college courses, volunteering in their church, local organizations, or taking leadership roles in their community, or time freedom to be more involved with ALPA. Majors are finding these traits more valuable just 121/1000 hrs Jet PIC. Being a well rounded applicant for the majors and LLCs is the way to go, vs chasing flight time. Even Spirit Airlines new TA looks very very attractive as a career choice now.
