If you want the GPS to work the entire flight, it's a lot more stable if you leave the app open, screen on, and run the iPad on a battery backup. It appears that once you close the app or lock the iPad, the GPS loses position, and can't reacquire inflight. It happens in the back of the plane too, but the window heat mesh does hinder satellite signals.
Agreed..On my first trip using it I kept switching between apps, but I noticed that as long as I left Jepp FD active the GPS worked well.
I also noticed when we were close to the gates/buildings, the GPS didn't acquire as well. Once away from the buildings and on the taxiways, it worked pretty well. More to come, but overall it's far superior to the POS.
