The difference being is that you were on a trip and couldn’t be rescheduled unless there was a cancellation, but yes you could be extended when you got back to base and called to checkout. By that time they usually had whatever issue of the day put out by an in base rsv or a gravy choker.
With the TA and the looser rescheduling language a line holder is restricted to his trip footprint + 4hrs (the day trip in this example). A reserve is only limited to his RAP block. So you get to the outstation on the turn and get rescheduled into a six day trip. That couldn’t happen right now without a cancellation.
