Ah, that makes sense. Fortunately the culture around here* seems to be to use the intercom, even if you've gotta grab a twizzle stick to keep the mic hot on some of the birds.
*by this I mean our NYC base, not necessarily the airline. The boys over in DFW are known to be a little more 'special'.
