It IS lucrative...but tell a 25 year Legacy veteran that southwest is as prestigious....and for guys hired then, it WAS a stepping stone...probably until after 9-11. Even today it’s an apples to oranges comparison.
SWA is a great company, you can make a lot of money, but it is on a completely different plane than the legacies.
Agreed, you can make a ton of cash at SWA, but the legacy lifestyle seems to be a lot less hustle to do it. I’ve had zero captains at my new airline show me their W-2s...I think it’s because they don’t feel compelled to do it.
