In addition, some of us don't need to fly a widebody to feel good about our career as a number of us have probably flown to far more international destinations prior to coming to Southwest than a legacy pilot ever will.
I would much much rather retire having flown for United, Delta or American. Southwest just isn’t in the same league. Sorry but that’s how I see it. Southwest reminds me of a commuter airline that pays really good but has substandard work rules. Many legs a day in a narrow body 737 into my 50s and 60s doesn’t sound appealing. Could you make a career at Southwest.... sure...a really good one absolutely but if I got stuck there I would have always wished that I had made it to United, Delta or American. That’s just how I see it.
