Companies across the country use recruitment bonuses daily to lure candidates. Even the military does it. This is nothing new. Why the fuss all of a sudden?

It seems to me that no matter where you go, pilots complain about pay. Go somewhere else that will meet your salary requirements if you don't like what you get paid. I knew exactly what I was going to get paid when I took the job offer, so I have no reason to complain. If I wasn't going to be happy I wouldn't have taken the offer.
The difference is that these bonuses you are aware of are all through the unions in agreement with the company. They can't do anything with money or working conditions no matter what it is unless they go through the union first and get their agreement. Assuming they have been in mediation this long, it's likely this could take forever (literally).
