How does one really tell how long of a time the wait is to get a domicile? Looking at DEN or PHX domiciles.
DEN : Skywest, TSA, Gojets
PHX: Compass,SkyWest
Trying to reduce commute times. DEN is a 4 hr drive or there are 2 flights a day operated by GoJets to DEN. PHX is easy enough to get to our of Montrose or GJT. Domicile and reduction of commute while on reserve is one of my top priorities.
Figured I would apply to all and go from there but trying to decipher through all the ever changing information to get reliable information. I have read plenty of the "don't go to ____ regional" threads and know that could change in the 4-6 months until application. I will be flying PT135 until I get the time needed.
thanks!
Ok, they are regionals and they are going to put you where THEY need you, at least until you have the seniority to bud where you want to be. Two flights a day is a difficult commute, even if you WORKED for Gojet. Skywest might well promise you PHX or DEN, and they might even keep that promise to get you on board if they need you bad ly enough, but that's the hook to get you and once you ARE on board, you are going to stand a lot of reserve, much of it out of base, until you are more senior and when you go to upgrade to captain, you will be going east in all likelihood, in a CR200.
Currently Compass only has three domiciles, PHX, SEA, and LAX. Currently they have very short reserved, although that could change I suppose. PHX is the newest but it's kind of popular. Even so, you could probably hold it in a few months. And commuting among the three domiciles on company aircraft is quite easy.
Of course, they too are a regional and all that could change. But right now Compass would likely be your best bet.
