Buffalo comes to mind as a perfect example. Downtown BUF is pretty dead. I had a 30 hour layover there last November. Ther is nothing to do. I’m sure there are some nice suburbs that would be a much better place to layover that’s not right at the airport, but not downtown either. Although I remember when we laid over by the airport and there was plenty to do there also.
Big Ditch Brewing? Anchor Bar? Pearl Street Brewery? Dinosaur? Hockey game, battle ship, theater's, Bars open till 4am... I would much prefer those than being stuck at the mall to save 5min in the van.
