Its true flying beats working but I would like to add that most can't make a living at it. Well maybe they can barely live but not have a life.

As mentioned before if we all could get our dream job at our desired home base the profession would be fantastic. Fat paychecks and long layovers at exotic locations are the carrots that tempted many into the sky. All the hardships must seem worthwhile when it is easy to see how you and your family is benefiting due to your profession

The reality for most however is not so good. Mediocre wages and miserable working conditions are becoming the norm industry wide and that is what this entire thread is about. Pilots receive as a large part of their compensation the fun that they are supposed to be having.

It is true that people will trade titles, fun and an interesting sounding job for actual compensation. Passengers don't care about the plight of pilots. If given the facts most would suggest that dissastified pilots should find another line of work.
