I see your point. Except, 1) it’s fairly standard across the profession to carry a backpack, thus it can be considered professional. 2) I’m all about function. At 5a.m. walking down icy metal stairs after a long night I don’t need to be carrying my suitcase in one hand and my leather bound briefcase in another. 3) my guess is you are either a management type, strive to be a management type, or at one time was at the grade of O5 or O6 (on active duty).
