FWIW the story was fabricated by the agent. Apparently they have a history. CA is fine and won't face any discipline from what I'm being told.
Apparently the CA wanted the jet bridge moved because of a large gap/step and the agent wouldn't comply. CA attempted to move the bridge himself to fix the issue. Hysteria ensued.
I kind of wondered if he had really attacked a gate agent physically why they would release him like that. Knew there was more to the story.
Still think he should have let it go about the jet bridge.
