It’s only one factor of MANY, but it’s also an important part of the process if one side or the other is playing games. Best and worst case it’s still a thumb on the scale one way or the other.
As an example, ask a JetBlue pilot how the current NMB is moving their first ALPA negotiation along with a company that only wants to stall. At the present rate they’ll never get a contract and the current NMB is apparently fine with that.

I don't understand why you guys are hellbent on making this a political issue. Does anyone here really think that Democrats care about airline pilots' contracts when our pay is in the top 5% of wage earners? If you were a dreamer or LGBT (even better if you were an LGBT dreamer), Democrats would care. But union airline pilots? No.
