Lawyer-ism. Prosecuting an offender can interfere with a civil suit. She has years to try to get a prosecution going, maybe doing the company first, then the perp.
Or since they missed the window to collect evidence, her lawyer may have decided that if the DA declines to prosecute, or worse, loses a trial that would damage the civil case.
I wouldn't read anything into the legal manuevers.
I find it telling that she's going public in a big way. She's either really pizzed, or the lawyer is trying to put PR hurt on the company. She looks pizzed to me.
