What is life like as a reserve guy(90%) on the 756?

I'm thinking about a change of pace. I've never had to really sit reserve on the 73 in EWR, and would be a line holder on a NB in ORD as well. But I just don't know what I'd be getting into if I moved into base and switched to a Global fleet.


Also, what areas would you recommend looking in as far as real estate? I am kind of familiar with the near NW suburbs (Arlington to Dundee) because of family, but Zillow has about ten million houses in our budget (<$450k) and target size (4+br, ~2500sq ft) within an hour's drive of the airport, never mind the 2 1/2 hour radius for reserve call out. Its impossible to even start to filter what side of town we want to look in at this point.
